There are many methods available in the market for CGPA to percentage conversion. Each institution uses their own method for CGPA to percentage calculation. Some universities use a simple method in which they multiply their CGPA by a fixed number, and some universities use a different method in which they slightly adjust CGPA before they convert them. Let’s understand some methods with some examples from different universities.

How to calculate CGPA to percentage in different universities ?

1.National Institutes of Technology & Indian Institutes of Technology: This institute calculates CGPA on a 10-point scale. You can convert it with the below-mentioned formula.

Percentage = CGPA × 9.5

Example: A CGPA of 8.5 would convert to 8.5×9.5=80.75%.

2.Mumbai University (MU): Mumbai University also uses CGPA on a scale of 10.0. You can convert it just by following the below-mentioned formula.

Percentage=(CGPA−0.75)×10

Example: A CGPA of 7.5 would convert to (7.5−0.75)×10=67.5%.

3. Anna University (Chennai): Anna University also uses a 10.0 scale for CGPA calculation. You can convert it just by following the below-mentioned formula.

Percentage = CGPA × 10

Example: A CGPA of 8.0 would convert to 8.0×10=80%.

4.Delhi University (DU): DU follows a different grading system, and DU does not have a direct conversion formula for CGPA to percentage. In this method, marks are converted into CGPA, and vice versa, marks are calculated from CGPA for percentage calculation.

Example: If your CGPA is 3.4 on a 4-point scale, the percentage might be calculated like this (depending on your department’s conversion scale) 3.4×25=85% 

5.University of Pune (Savitribai Phule Pune University): Pune University uses the same method as Mumbai University.

Formula: Percentage=(CGPA−0.75)×10

Example: A CGPA of 7.2 would convert to (7.2−0.75)×10=64.5%.

6.VIT University (VITEEE): VIT University uses a 10.0 scale for GPA calculation. You can convert it using the below-mentioned formula.

Formula: Percentage=CGPA×10

Example: A CGPA of 9.2 would convert to 9.2×10=92%.

7.Bharati Vidyapeeth University (Pune): This university uses a similar method to Maharashtra University and other similar universities.

Formula: Percentage=(CGPA−0.75)×10

Example: If your CGPA is 7.9, the percentage will be: (7.9−0.75)×10=71.4%

8.Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI): JMI uses the following approach where

Formula: Percentage = CGPA × 9.5

Example:If your CGPA is 8.3, the percentage will be (8.3×9.5=78.85%)

9.Indian Agricultural Universities (e.g., PAU, BCKV): This university uses a 10 scale for CGPA calculation.

Formula: Percentage = CGPA × 10

Example: If your CGPA is 8.0, the percentage will be: 8.0×10=80%

10. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU): This university uses a similar method to other Uttar Pradesh universities.

Formula: Percentage=(CGPA−0.75)×10

Example: If your CGPA is 7.5, the percentage will be (7.5−0.75)×10=67.5%
