Explanation of Conversion Process:

10-point scale means the conversion is straightforward using the factor of 0.4.

7-point scale means the formula GPA = (CGPA × 4) / 7 is used.

5-point scale means the formula GPA = (CGPA × 4) / 5 is used.

12-point scale means the formula GPA = (CGPA × 4) / 12 is used.

20-point scale means the formula GPA = (CGPA × 4) / 20 is used.

CGPA to GPA conversion for  different university 

Every universities has their own method to calculate academic grades. Let’s understand few of them.

1. Indian Universities 

Most of the indian universities use the 10-point CGPA scale. The conversion formula for GPA on a 4-point scale is often approximated by the 0.4 factor.

Conversion Example:

Conversion Formula: GPA = CGPA × 0.4

2. United State universities (4-point scale) : Many universities in the U.S. still follows 4.0 scale for their GPA calculation. They can use other scales like the 7-point scale or 10-point scale for better results

Example of a Conversion:

CGPA = 9.0 → GPA = 3.6

CGPA = 8.0 → GPA = 3.2

3. European Universities: Most of the European universities follows the ECTS grading scale, This grading system is different from the traditional GPA system.

4. Australian Universities (7-point scale) : Many Australian universities uses 7-point scale for CGPA .If you want to compare CGPA then there are specific guidelines to compare CGPA to a GPA on a 4-point scale

5. Philippines university (5-point scale): Universities of the Philippines use a 5-point scale for grading and this scale needs to be converted to an international GPA scale.

6. Canada university (4-point scale): Most of the Canadian universities use the 4-point scale for GPA which is similar to the U.S. However, some Canadian institutions also use letter grades to assign values, which are then converted to CGPA. Some universities use a percentage scale (e.g., 100% scale), which can be converted to GPA.
